Android Game Dev and Free Art
I know, I know. I haven’t been updating very regularly. Almost an entire game’s development has passed between my last update and this one. Things have been weird since my last update. My artist is in university so he’s had to take a little break from the unpaid hours of

Mini Dungeon Ludum Dare 29
So me and Yuuki didn’t really want to kill our momentum, but I also thought it would be fun to give ourselves a little challenge. Ludum Dare is a game competition / jam where developers spent 48 hours making a game. It’s obviously a bit short for anything polished, so

Blocky Dungeon Game Update
Blocky Dungeon seems like a name that would have been taken by now, but it looks like my prototype post is getting enough SEO to be a top result for the name. Google chose my game name for me! I’ll be adding this to the projects page soon, as I

Still Alive! Blocky Dungeon Prototype
Still alive. Don’t have much to post today. Just trying to let you know that things are still moving here. I’ve been playing with shaders lately! Can’t you tell? I’ve set up the shaders with a similar look to 3d Dot Game Heroes. Originally I didn’t care to be compared

Pathfinding and a Shiny Key
I’m still alive. Here’s some preview voxels from Qubicle- and a 3d model from YuukiRus who’s learning proper 3d modeling. We’re hoping to mix low poly and voxel meshes together. It’s pretty sweet. Okay, that’s recess. Uh, be cool out there. Don’t Bogart the snacks. And if the po-po rolls

Unity PlayMaker TwinStick Controls Demo
This is a simple twin stick shooter setup for PlayMaker. I’m hoping to get a bunch of these prototype game mechanics into a set of tutorials. I’m still working on the style of my channel, and it’s taking me a while to get things feeling ‘right’. I also have a

Unity PlayMaker Simple Waypoint PathFinding
The current set of PlayMaker pathfinding actions don’t work with the latest version of the A* Pathfinding Project. I’m making a simplfied version that only returns which nodes to move to. Actually moving your physics/transform/character controller is up to you! This is a much better way to handle movement because

Fez meets Minecraft?
Spent a couple of hours messing around with voxel models and Playmaker, to set up a level editor similar to Fez. Somehow it turned into a Minecraft ripoff. :-\ Anyway, the editor is actually pretty nice for a days work. I’ve been doing ingame level editors for what seems like

Unity, Voxels, PlayMaker and Rotorz
Unity, Voxels, PlayMaker and Rotorz, Oh my! I’m currently adding PlayMaker powered speech bubbles to my New Years Jam game.

Asset Review: Rotorz Tile System
I’m doing a short bit of writing about the assets I’ve purchased in the Unity Asset Store. Today we’re comparing tilemappers. I’ve only had youtube videos and other reviews to go with, so I waited a while before finally purchasing…

Asset Review: Qubicle Constructor and Unite
I’m doing a short bit of writing about the assets I’ve purchased in the Unity Asset Store. Unity and Voxels First on the list: 2 fun voxel tools from the friendly guys at MindDesk.

A New Year – 2014
Oh how time flies. A lot has happened in 2013. I got lost in Minecraft for 6 months, made a bunch of friends there, and mostly abandoned them when I decided to move back into game development mode. Life eh?
